Award Process

Review of Submissions

Submissions will be reviewed and rated equally upon the following criteria:

  1. Creativity and
  2. Originality
  3. Quality and Preliminary Execution
  4. Adherence to the project intent and theme
  5. Overall impression

Decisions of the Committee are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the Call for Design Submissions.

Upon review, the President of the University of New Mexico will present the finalists to the Board of Regents of the University of New Mexico, who are ultimately responsible for selecting the new UNM Seal. This Call for Design Submissions in no way requires that the Board of Regents choose one of the submitted designs.

The week of December 2, UNM will notify Submitters of which designs will advance as semifinalists for community input and Board of Regent review via the contact information provided at the time of submission.

Submitted designs will be reviewed and rated by UNM’s Seal Committee Members. The Committee will narrow the entries to up to five semifinalists who will be asked to make their designs camera-ready (finished, refined and suitable for reproduction) to be considered for input from the general UNM community, review by the President, and final review and selection by the UNM Board of Regents.

Honorarium

Selected semifinalists will receive an honorarium of $505 upon submission of camera-ready designs.

If, through this Call for Design Submissions, the Board of Regents selects a final design to become the UNM Seal, the University will award the Finalist an honorarium of $1889.

All honoraria will be issued per design submission semifinalist, and not per individual(s) who(m) contributed to the design submission.  Under no circumstances will the honoraria for a selected design semifinalist exceed $505.
